A Complete Dog Training Center
Introduction to Scent
Ever wonder how your dog’s nose works and just how amazing this sense this is? Even by conservative estimates, a dog’s sense of smell is hundreds of times better than ours— we have only 5 million scent receptors in our nose; dogs have as many as 300 million. Dogs use their nose to make sense of their world, so why not have fun with this?

This class is designed to introduce you and your dog to the wonderful world of scent. This fun, foundational class is open to all dogs, all ages, and all levels of ability. It’s a great class for experienced owners who are looking for something new to do with their dogs, as well as for shyer dogs who just need a little confidence working in a less distracting environment. Students will learn the basic skills necessary to then move into tracking, nosework, and other specific scent discrimination exercises.

For this class, you will need a harness (optional) and leash; smelly, high-value treats (such as chicken, hot dogs, or liver); and your dog needs to be comfortable in a crate (dogs work exercises individually at times).
