A Complete Dog Training Center
Sandra Green
Sandra started in dog training in 1975 when she acquired her first Sheltie. By the age of two, Daisy had achieved her UD. Together they went on to compete in obedience and finished up their career with two high-in-trials. This was the start of a dog training/showing lifestyle.
Throughout the years, Sandra has bred, trained and shown many breeds; Shelties, Smooth Fox Terriers, German Shepherd Dogs and then Pointers. Along with her own dogs, she also handled many other breeds in conformation; Borzoi, Irish Wolfhound, Soft-coated Wheaton Terrier, Scottish Terrier, American Foxhound and Miniature Poodle to name a few.
In 1999, Sandra was looking for a fun activity for the Pointers in her life and saw an agility event at a local dog show. This looked like just the sport for them! Quickly getting involved when Bonnie Simmons was hired at The DogWorks as an agility instructor, Sandra and her Pointers have learned quite a bit about the sport of agility.
Sandra and Laverne have been competing in Agility since 2001 and have achieved great success in the sport. Laverne has other titles as well as her Master Excellent Agility titles; Conformation Champion, Junior Hunter, Canine Good Citizen and the American Pointer Club Versatility Award. They are currently working towards their Master Agility Championship (MACH) and ended up as the #1 Pointer in Agility in AKC for the year 2003.
When the need arose, Sandra began assisting Bonnie in the agility classes at The DogWorks. She soon moved into the Beginning Agility instructor role when classes became so popular. She thoroughly enjoys seeing dog and handler work together and become a team. The most important aspect of training to her is to always be positive in agility training…’No’ is only allowed if your dog is going to mark the equipment or is being aggressive toward another dog! Sandra encourages everyone to give agility a try when looking for a fun, interactive activity for owner and dog.
