A Complete Dog Training Center
Lisa McCoy
Lisa has been training dogs since 2003, when she acquired her first Springer Spaniel, Lily. She trains and competes in obedience, rally obedience, agility, and tracking. Lisa is also an Associate Member of the International Association of Canine Professionals. Her dog Lily was also a certified therapy dog. Her current Springer Spaniel, Booth (Gleneire's Shaken Not Stirred, CD, CDX, RN, RA, RE, NA, NAJ, OAJ, OA, CGC), is working towards his Excellent titles in obedience and agility.
Lisa teaches Beginning, Intermediate, and Advanced Obedience Basics at Dogworks. She also co-teaches the Beginning Agility class. The Beginning class is designed to build the foundation dogs need to be a well-behaved member of the family. Since many dogs in that class are puppies, there is also a focus on manners-walking on a loose leash,
coming when called reliably, and performing a sit and down on command. The Intermediate class builds on this foundation. The dogs are introduced to the basics of what they will need to pass the AKC Canine Good Citizen exam. The Advanced class is aimed at helping dogs and their handlers successfully pass the CGC by teaching dogs the skills they need to be well-behaved members of not just a family, but of society in general. Dogs learn how to walk calmly through a crowd, accept handling by a stranger, and how to meet a strange dog, among other things.

"One of the things I love best about training dogs is the bond that grows between the family members and the dog. It's wonderful when a dog has an 'a-ha' moment and understands what is being asked of it," Lisa says. "Training should always be fun for both you and your dog. Even when you are encouraging the dog for a little more precision, the focus should always be on the fun. Training dogs is one of the most fulfilling things I've ever done." Lisa says, "Everyone should-and can-experience that."
