A Complete Dog Training Center

A happy, willing worker - greyhounds can heel!

Formal Obedience Classes

Classes are available from beginning to the most advanced levels of AKC obedience. Taught by Liz Pederson, a top local obedience competitor, classes emphasize training for animation, spirited performance, willingness to work, and precision. Positive, motivational methods are used along with play to produce high scoring teams. Methods help forge a close bond between handler and dog. Great for the busy or high energy dog that needs a job!

Practicing formal recalls in class

Beginning: This class introduces attention work which is the basis of all competition-style heeling. Handler drills work on the human team member's skills: footwork, turns (cues), and pacing. While heeling is emphasized, work also begins on advanced exercises. The dumbbell is introduced, drop on recall and proper jumping technique is taught to the dogs.

Intermediate: As teams learn, they graduate into classes that introduce all the remaining advanced exercises: gloves, go-backs, articles, signals, and directed jumping. These exercises are worked as heeling is polished for the novice ring.

Open/Utility: A long-standing Thursday night tradition. Teams that have a CD title polish the exercises needed to earn advanced degrees. Each eight-week class cycle ends with a run through class.
