A Complete Dog Training Center

Beth and Owen celebrate their second HIT award

Beth Levine

Beth teaches Basic Obedience and is also the webmaster for the newly redesigned Dogworks website. Her classes, held on Friday evenings, concentrate on household manners and ready students to succeed in the AKC Canine Good Citizen test. This test demonstrates how well-behaved and obedient your dog is in public as well as at home. The test includes such exercises as walking on a loose leash through a crowd, politely meeting strangers and other dogs, being groomed and examined, and tolerating noise distractions. A dog with a CGC is a distinguished and reliable pet.

"I love teaching puppies! Puppies and untrained adult dogs make such rapid improvement; it's wonderful to see the bond between owner and pet strengthen as they learn and train together." Beth says. As with all classes at The DogWorks, Beth trains owners to treat their companions with kindness and fairness, while being firm and decisive. Her canine students learn how to be well-mannered canine family members. She has been teaching obedience classes since 1999 and has experience with many different breeds and mixed breeds.

Owen lure coursing

Beth was born into a dog-owning and dog-loving family. She started training dogs as a child in 4-H and had good success at 4-H competitions with her first training partner, a doberman who was one of the family dogs. She adopted her first ex-racing greyhound in 1993 and embarked on a passionate devotion to sighthounds that continues to this day. Beth owned two titled greyhounds, one of whom was a lure coursing field champion and a CDX; he was an all-breed HIT winner and was nationally ranked in obedience in his breed. In 1998 she purchased her first conformation dog, a whippet, beginning her involvement with the breed that has become her primary interest and passion. Beth's first whippet, who became the foundation of her breeding program, was major pointed in the US and a multi-group placing Canadian breed champion, a lure coursing field champion and completed her CD with a HIT; she was nationally ranked in obedience in Owen lure coursingher breed and completed her American Whippet Club Award of Versatility. Beth especially enjoys watching dogs perform the function for which they were originally developed, and is an enthusiastic supporter of canine performance events. She is a breeder/owner/handler of champion (show and performance) whippets under the kennel name Serendipity.
